Must see places along Mexico's Pacific Coast From Puerto Vallarta to Mazatlan?

I'm heading to Mazatlan by way of Puerto Vallarta- we were thinking of adding stops in Sayulita, San Blas to our trip- suggestions for "must-see" towns, cities, etc?

We were also planning to stay in Mazatlan, but our schedule is totally open- are there any other nearby cities we should consider staying at?

Rincon de Guayabitos is must. Located an hour north of Puerto Vallarta is a small town with a beautiful beach.Excellent if travelling with kids and everything is a whole lot cheaper.Also recommend Los Ayala which is 3 km. south of Guayabitos.
