Is my boy ready for glassblowing/lampworking?
My boy is 13 years of age turning 14 in may. He's been annoying me for an entire month about getting him their own lampworking package. He's all of this prepared and it has the majority of the money he needs for this. He pointed out he works within the backyard having a fan coming the fumes away and also the gas tank far. He's also explained about flashback arrestors which stop the flow of fire from it flashes into the gas line. Now's he too youthful with this hobby or perhaps is it fine? I believe this is not a secure hobby and when it's let me know why.

this isn't a task I would suggest to have an not attended person under 18. Sometimes with glass, I've got a torch and do light work. I've burned myself, I've had glass shatter and that i know I'm careful. Sometimes inside since i can control the temperature from the glass and cleanup any damaged bits once i am done. It should be completed in a flame proof area---the truly amazing outdoors is not recommended with this.
a more sensible choice may be to consider stained glass arrange it is slightly less harmful but you're not handling a flame and all sorts of implications of this.
Glass Fusing can also be very awesome and provides lots of possibilities for experimentation and inventive expression.
I'd rather not discourage anyone from be resourceful but he's too youthful to get this done unless of course you're already a light worker and can have the ability to coach him along and become immediately as they will it.
The soda flare produced while dealing with molten glass also causes retina damage if you're not putting on the right glasses.
AND---------I in the bank for more than a year before I added the lampworking package to my crafting toolbox, so per month does not appear like lengthy to become wanting something.
