Wood and stoneworking suggestions for a novice?
I am a newbie in the realm of wood and stone carving, however i have acquired onto it fairly easily. I lately committed to a dremel, flexshaft attachment and gemstone burrs. I've attempted my hands at carving a walnut walking stick as well as designed a Harry Potter wand for my niece, each of which switched out superbly. I haven't yet test out stone, I intend to get soapstone and alabaster the next time I visit the town.
My intention using the hobby would be to create novelty products (such as the wand) and jewellery, but I would like applying for grants other projects I possibly could do in order to hone my craft. Ideally, they'd be stuff that people would want to consider buying if done well.
Any ideas?
